A five-day (36 hour) course of basic knowledge in hoisting and rigging practices and crane signaling which meets the Department of Energy (DOE) requirements. The course content includes:

• Terminology

• Types of tackle

• Inspection

• Proper rigging procedures

• Calculation of center of gravity

• Calculation of the proper size tackle

• Hands-on and written exam for crane signaling

The student must pass both a written exam and a hands-on evaluation.
