A 3-week course covering the use of transits, optical levels, tapes and chains for lay out and grade control for building and heavy highway construction.

Subject matter in this course includes:

• The use of trigonometry tables and mathematics

• Blueprint interpretation

• Use of total stations for turning angles

• Transfer of grades

• Making measurements (including triangulation of inaccessible distances)

• Setting and marking stakes for site control
