Work Zone Traffic Technician II

This one-week (36-hour) course has been designed for those who intend to set up work zones as the primary focus of their work. The topics to be covered include, but are not limited to:

  • The study of standard construction drawings in greater depth to set up common work zone scenarios such as:
    • Temporary Traffic Signal Zones
    • Road Closures
    • Detours
    • Partial and Total Ramp Closures on Freeways
  • Installing temporary pavement markings to create guidance for traffic in lane shifts and median crossovers:
    • Temporary Raised Pavement Markings (TRPMs)
    • Tape
  • Truck-mounted attenuators
  • Rolling roadblocks
  • Roundabouts
  • Barrier walls and attenuators
  • Rumble strips

Since this course builds on the knowledge and skills already learned in Work Zone Traffic Technician I, it is strongly recommended that Work Zone Traffic Technician I be completed before enrolling into this course.
