Radiation Worker II
This 24-hour course is designed for students who are involved in the clean-up of radiologically contaminated waste sites. This course is an introduction to the basic concepts of ionizing radiation and its attending hazards. The course includes the following topics:
Properties of Radiation
Control Measures
Sources of radioactive exposure
Health effects of radiation exposure
Posting radioactive work areas
Personal protective equipment
Detection intruments
Personal Dosimetry
The class consist of both classroom and hands-on activities.
Graduates must pass a written test with a score of 80% or better. This course provides excellent preparation for laborers who will be working in DOE and NRC facilities.
