U.S. Department of the Interior Visits OLTC

OLTC was honored to host key U.S. Department of the Interior members in March to tour our training facilities and learn more about the Laborers’ capabilities, goals, and how the Bipartisan Infrastructure work is progressing across Ohio.

Winnie Stachelberg, Senior Advisor and Infrastructure Coordinator, and her team of Phil Burton, Señor Advisor for Infrastructure Equity, and Matt Dutch, Advisor for Infrastructure Implementation, oversee the Department’s implementation of the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which helps communities tackle the climate crisis while creating good-paying union jobs, advancing environmental justice, and boosting local economies.

The group came at the invitation of the Ohio Laborers’ District Council to discuss the upcoming Bipartisan Infrastructure dollars for Orphan Wells and Abandoned Mines in Ohio. An expected $85 million will be spent on the state to repair and fill abandoned mines and wells.

After the productive visit to the training center, the same group visited an active construction site alongside the Assistant Chief of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Tara Lee, and the Project Manager of Next LVL Energy, Austin Sutler. The group viewed an orphan site and discussed the implications of the projects and outlook across the state.
