ABOUT OLTC


Sitting on 119 acres of rolling, scenic ground, the Drexel J. Thrash Training Center is a quiet, tranquil place to conduct training sessions. Located near the center of the state of Ohio, the Center is accessible to all LIUNA members in the state. We are located on U.S. 36, 12 miles east of Mt. Vernon between Howard and Millwood. We are 1/4 of a mile west of the junction of U.S. 36 and U.S. 62. The Center offers a full training schedule from October through May, with classes offered on a “as needed” basis through the summer. Nearly all training can be performed indoors during in climate weather.

Work-site Traffic Supervisor Certification

If you are looking to become a Work-site Traffic Supervisor (formally known as a Traffic Control Supervisor) you will be required to take a test, at no cost to you, that meets the requirements of the Ohio Department of Transportation.

If you feel you have met the required training and are ready to take the test.  Below is a listing of available testing dates and locations, we do not facilitate the testing.  Remember, you will be required to show proof of training prior to actually taking the test.  There is no fee for taking the test.

NEW INSTRUCTOR SEARCH


Due to the increased demand for training, the Drexel J. Thrash Training Center will be looking for qualified individual to teach the “A” series classes.  We are also looking for a qualified individual to teach the Environmental classes.  We are specifically looking for someone that has line and grade experience.  Gravity Flow Pipe Laying will be a big plus.  In addition, we are specifically looking for Lead Abatement experience (6 months minimum of documented experience) as well as Asbestos Abatement experience (6 months of documented experience as well).  The job opening will be posted at the Local Union Halls along with a job description.

Interested parties who meet the service and job requirements should call the Training Center for an application during regular business hours.  Send the completed application along with a resume to The Drexel J. Thrash Training Center.  Applications must be received by August 31,2018 to be considered for this position.

The position of Instructor at the Drexel J. Thrash Training Center is a demanding one.  Instructors continually expand their areas of expertise by training in areas of the curriculum with which they may not be familiar.  Training is provided both in house and through outside sources to give the solid knowledge base needed to train our Union brothers and sisters.  Road assignments are a big part of the Instructor’s duties throughout the training season.  Instructors must readily be willing to take road assignments as needed, including Saturdays, anywhere in the state of Ohio.
